Vettaikaaran eludes Deepavali

It is almost confirmed that Ilayathalapathy Vijay will not have a Deepavali release. According to sources close to the actor, Vettaikaaran will not be releasing for the festival of lights.The shooting for the film, especially a song, was to be completed in New Zealand, but due to certain visa problems, the unit couldn’t make it to the location.Now, the same song that was to be shot abroad, is being canned at locations in and around Pune, Mahabaleswar and Lonavala on Vijay and Anushka.The unit is expected to be back in Chennai by October 8, hardly ten days before the festival. The post production and DI work will take at least a fortnight, which clearly means that the film will not be able to have a Deepavali release.As per the new rules of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), big star’s films can release only for festivals. So, it means that the TFPC will now recognise only Christmas, the next festival this year, on December 25 (Friday), as the perfect day for Vettaikaaran to start his BO hunt!

Don’t drink and drive, says Rahman

I know many people are aware of Jai Ho concert that was held on October 1, 2009. You would have seen many hoardings on buses. The concert was held near Mahabalipuram on ECR. Since the way is really dangerous one Rahman requested his fans to drive safely to that place.

It goes like this exactly!

“The concert venue is quite far from Chennai and I request fans to drive safely to the venue. Most importantly, I urge fans not to drink and drive,”

The most interesting thing is that this is the first concert by Rahman after grabbing Oscars!

Rahman also expressed his pleasure in being a part of a charity concert of this tune, the proceeds of which will go to the underprivileged children. “There are less and less live concerts happening in India these days. It’s heartening to see this concert being organized and I’m happy to be a part of it,” he added.

Vijay's audio albums have always been full of energy and if an album doesnt satisfy that criteria, it is not looked upon favorably by his legion of fans. Even the great 'AR Rahman' has to compose songs that sync in tune with Vijay's image because thats what fits Vijay and thats what is loved by his fans. The combination of Vijay with Vijay Antony was looked upon very favorably by one and all because of Vijay Antony's recent super successes with blockbuster hit songs like 'Naaka Mukka', 'Aathichudi', 'Pia Pia'. Vijay Antony has worked as well he possibly could to give a ver energetic album that is loved by Vijay fans and one that sets the screens on fire along with Vijay's amazing steps. Lets see how each song has turned out

1. Naa Adicha Thanga Maata - Shankar Mahadevan, Jason Sanjay

Highlight of the song? JASON SANJAY, the 'Kutti Thalapathy' and son of Ilayathalapathy. Unbelievable talent! Talent passes on through blood and its a case thats again emphatically proved with Sanjay. Dont be surprised if this kid becomes a big hero just like his father and sings for a lot of albums. The song starts off in Carnatic style and you are shocked because this song is said to be the high energy intro of Vijay. But that was a teaser from Vijay Antony as the song immediately gets into a high octane orchestration which sends you into a frenzy. And then Shankar Mahadevan takes over! Shankar Mahadeven is the best opening song singer for Vijay after Tippu and he proves it. More than the song, Shankar passes his energy and lifts the song to great levels. Its a usual Vijay style intro song, but Vijay Antony has done his best with experimenting on the tune and the orchestrations/beats and gives a perfect Diwali gift for Vijay fans.

Titbits: When Sanjay's lines are sung in the theatre (with Sanjay appearing onscreen with Vijay), remember to have cotton buds with you or your ears could go deaf at the applause and whistle that will reverberate the theatre

Verdict: Marana Mass.... Saravedi!

2. Puli Urumudhu - Ananthu, Mahesh Vinayakam

'Singam Ondru Purapattadhe'? This is Vijay's version of that song. Vijay, considered to be the successor of Rajnikanth, is expected to terrorise the screen when this song is played. It aptly fits the superstar and the mass image of the Ilayathalapathy. These songs dont offer too much in the variety of its tune, beats and orchestration but the difference that the song makes in the energy differentiates the average song from the best one. This one certainly is very close to the 'Best' category. One small hitch is that the song reminds us of the style of the 90's when Malaysia Vasudevan used to rule the Tamil cinema scene. But since the majority of the target audience are going to be Vijay fans, this song does more than appease their tastes.

Titbits: Lots of zooming into Vijay's face and the long shot mass walk (made famous by Rajni) in store!

Verdict: Indha song kku theatre alarala, dont know what else would?

3. Oru Chinna Thamarai - Krish, Suchitra

One of my favorite songs of the album. The rap start reminds a little of 'Karka Karka' from Vettaiyadu Vilayadu but then the song goes into a very nice melody. Krish turns out to be a real scene stealer. It feels so good to listen to Suchi (Suchitra). Vijay Antony does a great job and this should be one of the best entertaining and soft songs of his career. He literally plays with the background instrumentation and adds a lot of quality to the song. Possibly the best one of the album (maybe 'Naan Adicha' still wins due to its energy and Sanjay) but this song's picturisation is very important for the long run success of this song. Please Babusivan, hope you have done a good job in this song.

Titbits: Eagerly awaiting to see Vijay and Anushka groove to this song.

Verdict: One of the best ones....

4. Karigalan - Surchithra, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran

What a folkish start? One of the best ever starts to a folk song. A foot tapping song, but it could possibly take you two listenings before the whole song gets into your system. The chorus part (the start) is the one that really keeps you interested to this song during the first listen. The singers do a decent job although one wishes that the selection of the male singer was a little more better as the male singer doesnt sync in the style of singing with the female singer. Vijay Antony as usual plays with the music and gives lot of energy with the beats.

Titbits: Vijay-Anushka chemistry has a good chance to show its true colors.

Verdict: Not a instant love, but surely fans will start loving it after a few listens.

Update (Sep 25): Super-hit song. Inspite the male singer's non-sync, the song works very well with the listener, especially the starting music.

5. En Uchimandai - Shoba Sekar, Krishna Iyer

Another of those high energy songs (possibly the climax songs). One wishes to see some innovation in this song which is a little missing. The song should satisfy fans, but doesnt offer much in terms of creativity. Its the type of song that should be a hit in the short term but its long run prospects look a little doubtful. A Srikanth Deva type song, Vijay Antony does his best to satisfy the fans. The success of this song heavily depends on the picturisation and the dance steps of Vijay.

Verdict: Above Average

Singer: Ananthu, Mahesh Vinayakram

A bravado singing where the male protoganist singing about his thoughts and vision. It has everything in it to appease Vijay fans. Vijay Antony has opted for a racy tune that is typical of Vijay's intro numbers.

2. Chinna Thamarai

Singer: Krish, Suchithra

A peppy number that is sure to catch the attention of the dance-buffs. All is racy and peppy in this number which begins with a rap. Krish and Suchitra sings without any pretensions and it is the heavy beat from Vijay Anthony which is very much striking here. The music composer, who loves using trumpets a lot has creates a magic with the instrument here too.

3. Naan Adicha -

Singer: Shankar Mahadevan

A typical peppy and folkish number that is part and parcel of a Vijay film. Oozing with energy, Shankar Mahadevan is no doubt the preferred choice of music directors to render such genre of songs. Begins at slow pace, the songs gathers momentum as it progresses. Supposedly the introduction song of 'Ilaya Thalapathi', it is about the admirations on the 'real' Vijay and a number in praise of the actor.

4. Karigalan

Singer: Surchith, Sangeetha Rajeshwaran

With good use of jazz guitar, Vijay Antony has tried different in this song, which definitely needs a mention. It starts with a soft hum that flows quite smoothly. With simple and catchy lyrics, the song is sure to possess everything that would appease music-lovers. Sangeetha Rajeshwaran impresses with her cool rendition.

5. Uchimandai

Singer: Krishna Iyer, Shoba Sekar, Charulatha Mani, Shakthi Sree

Vijay Antony and peppy song's seems inseparable. After the likes of catchy songs like 'Bannaras pattu katti...' and 'Aathi Chudi...' in his earlier films, the music composer has come up with one more here. It is racy from the word go. Krishna Iyer in the company of Shoba Sekar, Charulatha Mani and Sakthi Sree seems to have had a great party singing it. It is a song that is sure to make it big in the audio charts.

This news has come from some believable source! The name of Vijay's 50th film is going to be Urimai Kural! Fans of Vijay are much excited hearing this..! This is going to be rocking. Many film directors approach Vijay with lots and lots of action script.Director Jayam Raja was supposed to direct Vijay’s 50th film. However, the buzz from Kollywood is that Perarasu will direct Ilayathalapathi’s landmark film and Jayam Raja will wield the megaphone for the star’s film soon after this.

Latest speculation in Kollywood is that director Perarasu might be the lucky winner making Vijay’s 50th venture. Commercial film maker Perarasu has given hits like ‘Thirupachi’ and ‘Sivakasi’ for Vijay. These two movies made big at box office, played crucial part in uplifting Ilayathalapathy’s filmy career.According to them, the actor is planning to announce the film during Diwali and it will hit the floors thereafter. But Perarasu has been asked to restrict himself to wielding the megaphone alone. It is reported that director S.P. Rajkumar, who is famous for his comedies, will pen the story, screenplay and dialogues.
